Nuclear Weapons Can Still Kill You While You Sleep Tonight.
We are in Danger. In 2002,
America had 10,240 nuclear weapons with a weak promise to halve that number by 2007.
Russia still has an undetermined amount of nuclear weapons available, with a weak promise to have only 2,200 by the end of 2010. Many of these weapons are locked & loaded - ready to fire at a moments notice - right now. To put things into perspective for you: four or five decent Intercontinental Ballistic Missiles (ICBM’s) is enough to wipe out
New York beyond recognition. This is a map of Russia's current Nuclear launching sites outlined on Google Earth. This is a map of the United State's Nuclear weapons facilities, thanks to Wikipedia.
I would like to tell you how your life can be directly affected. Chernobyl (6.6 Million people irradiated) was just an accident - imagine a weapon, designed to kill, detonating in your city. If the initial blast doesn’t kill you, your body's cells will be torn to pieces by radiation over time. The surrounding area will be totally uninhabitable. Crops and stock will cease to exist, and we will be unable to regrow for decades. There will be no luxuries, and hospitals will be jam-packed with corpses. You will not be able to leave shelter to find water, food, or even just to smell fresh air - if you do, you will die. Yes, this really can happen to you, and it can happen today. Having these weapons is not an acceptable risk for humanity to take.
We must demand that nuclear weapons be abolished through total and unconditional worldwide disarmament, and it must happen faster than promised in the Non Proliferation Treaty (NPT) for the safety of humanity and the longevity of our planet.
Note: The situation to the right is entirely stoppable right now, but it will never be reversible.
It is my solemn quest that my generation’s children and grandchildren will never feel the tremor of a nuclear explosion, or the sound of the screams from above as people desperately try to gain access to the jam-packed basement or subway they are huddled in to protect themselves from lethal radiation. Nobody should ever have to wonder what will be left of their world when it’s safe to go back outside.
Nuclear weapons are beyond lethal. A detonation in your city will destroy life as you know it: but it can never happen if we don't have the weapons to do it with.
There are 6.57 billion people on this planet. All of them could die tomorrow should all the weapons be fired. Should a warhead even accidentally explode in a populated area, we will suffer losses beyond imagination. There are 1.73 Billion people who have access to the internet – and I want all of them to sign the below partition to help me stop this from ever happening. The key is global support, people from all reaches of the earth united and demanding safety. There can be no arms race without the arms. Together, we can influence change.
Please do anything in your power to contribute to this worthy cause. With enough support, politicians can do nothing but accept our requests for a total and unconditional ban on Nuclear weapons and facilities. At an appropriate time, with enough numbers, together we will all make a difference.
At the bottom of this website are some active organizations to which you can contribute financially. Above is a petition you can sign to demand that the world disarm. We cannot stop war, but we can stop mass destruction via nuclear weapons. As the numbers grow, I will inform everybody via email of the milestones we pass. With enough names and support, we can all forge ourselves a future without the possibility of ever seeing the dark of a fallout shelter.
Einstein stated that he doesn’t know how World War III will be fought – but he knows that World War IV will be fought with sticks and stones. For those who don’t have their thinking caps on right now, he means we will destroy ourselves with the tools & weapons we create. Let's never let that happen.
To our long & happy lives. Thank you for your support.
